Tigers

Literacy Lines”

Tiger is back! The golfing world is delighted to have their most talented golfer back on the circuit. We have little “Tigers” in our rooms, those talented readers that just seem to always have it together. We expect these students to continue to excel regardless of the time we spend with them, but the reality is these students also need some coaching from their teachers. Just as Tiger Woods has slumps and needs to work on certain parts of his golfing game to remain competitive. Our students need us to keep them in the game and provide the instruction to move them forward. We often think these kids will be just fine, just let them read, but they still need to feel a part of the reading community and have that instructional time to discuss their books, develop comprehension strategies and vocabulary.

As spring approaches, let’s keep all our readers engaged and in the game. Remember, “Fair isn’t always equal.” We know our neediest readers take up the majority of our time, but let’s keep our little “Tigers” at the peak of their performance.

If you have questions or concerns about meeting the needs of all your readers please let me know. We can figure out a way for all our kids to be little “Masters Champions” at reading!!!
